Welcome to the South Llano
The Cabins,
.… are rustic, clean, and accommodating. The cabins date back to the 1940’s when “dude ranches and “summer camps” were popular. They have been updated, but still take you back in time. There is “some” air-conditioning in all the cabins. But, the dry desert wind is enough to keep most cool at night. Many choose to sleep with the windows open to create a “sleeping porch” effect. There are four cabins on the property. The largest is shown above. It has two beds on the screened porch (not even “some” AC here), and one bed inside (“some AC here). The other three cabins have the option of “some” AC sleeping or opening the windows for the “sleep porch” effect. Also, all cabins are equipped with showers (bring your own towels) and a kitchen. However, there are plenty of grills (bring your own charcoal) around to keep the “cook” out of the kitchen.
The River,
… is why vacationers come here, and why the Indians stayed here hundreds of years ago. The spring fed waters are clear and cool. Indian legend says the river had healing powers. After a few days of swimming, kayaking, fishing and just relaxing on the river bank, you will come to believe the Indians were 100% correct.
South Llano River
This view is looking south from river bank on our property. While it looks deep, it is actually only four to ten feet deep. In our area, the river is constant level and has a rock bottom. The swimming area is located between two sets of rapids and makes it an ideal area to practice kayaking, swimming, floating, and, of course, relaxing. Close to the bank, even the most timid swimmer is usually comfortable. We do not furnish certified life vests. Please remember to bring your own. However, we do have an assortment of swim “noodles.”
